Nico Rosberg has no concerns about being partnered with his Mercedes team-mate Michael Schumacher for the second year running.
Rosberg outscored Schumacher by 70 points in 2010, but the returning seven-time champion struggled due to a chassis and tyre combination that was not to his liking. Schumacher is hoping he will have an easier time in 2011 using new Pirelli tyres and a car that has been developed with his needs in mind.
However, Rosberg, who has also had a significant input in the new Mercedes, is not concerned about going up against a rejuvenated Schumacher.
"It may be close between us, and maybe he will beat me, but there's no way he's going to put me in the shade," he told Bild am Sonntag . "There is no reason why I would be worse than last year - on the contrary, I will be better."
He also scoffed at Fernando Alonso's claim that Schumacher will be the man to beat in 2011.
"It doesn't really interest me, but I found it a little strange that you wouldn't say Red Bull is your nearest rival. That seems pretty obvious."
