Liuzzi holding out hope of drive

Tonio Liuzzi's manager is confident the Italian will still be in Formula One this season, but admits he does not know whether or not he will be racing.

Liuzzi is contracted to Force India for the 2011 championship, although the team are widely expected to name Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta as their driver lineup for the season.

With that seemingly limiting the 29-year-old's options to a testing role with the team or a desperate search for an opportunity elsewhere, Liuzzi's manager Peter Collins remains confident his client will remain in the sport even if he does not have a seat for the season.

"Tonio will be in F1 this year. Will he be racing? I don't know," Collins told the BBC. "I've no comment to make at this stage and it would be wrong for me to do so. The position has been very clear for some time and it is best to let the team make any announcement."

Liuzzi competed in all 19 races for Force India last season, picking up 21 points on the way to 15th in the driver's championship. But he was comprehensively overshadowed by team-mate Sutil, who accumulated 47 points for an 11th place finish.
