The inaugural Indian Grand Prix has been reinstated to its original date of October 30.
The race was briefly rescheduled for December while the FIA's World Motor Sport Council [WMSC] attempted to rechedule the Bahrain Grand Prix earlier this month, but now that the Bahrainis have decided not to go ahead with their race the October 30 date is available once more. Bernie Ecclestone proposed that the calendar should return to its original order last week and the WMSC agreed to his latest wish via a fax vote.
Throughout the ordeal the Indian Grand Prix organisers have maintained that they will be ready to host the race in October and a spokesman for the organisers told ESPNF1 on June 1 that the track was 90% complete.
He added: "The track will get completed by the end of July or first week of August. We expect the homologation to take place in August. Grandstand, paddock, hospitality and press facilities would be completed by September end, at the latest."
The vote brings an official end to the 2011 Bahrain Grand Prix saga, which also means the season finale will take place in Brazil as originally planned.
