-->I say, is there a pattern emerging? According to the positions of the top ten cars in the second Free Practice Session yesterday, there is. Once again, Nick and Vitaly nestled just inside this elite grouping following a decent day at the office. Whilst it's clear we need to be pushing up the order a little bit further to achieve what we believe we can (and to ensure the likes of the Ferrari and Mercedes cars begin quaking in their boots), this was undoubtedly one of the more satisfying Friday practices.
At a handful of race weekend this season, we have started slowly whilst exploring different set-ups on the Friday, upped our game on Saturday morning and put in the good lap times when it has mattered in Qualifying. This weekend, at least, we've looked alright for pace and we've adapted well to the Pirelli medium tyres – a trend we hope continues today.
Both cars starting inside the top ten is a minimum requirement for tomorrow's race. Higher up the top ten is where we should be pushing, however. Positive noises have been made about the upgrades we have brought to Valencia and there is hope that this, along with the drivers' knowledge of the circuit (Vitaly won here three times in GP2 Series), could stand us in good stead as we take to the grid tomorrow.
If our season is moving in the right direction, and away from our less than boastful performances in the likes of Spain and Monaco, then this (here in Valencia) is where it should happen. In any sport, momentum is of the greatest importance. Momentum builds belief. Momentum breeds confidence. Momentum gives athletes, teams, its management the know how to win. The know how to achieve. It is a snowball effect. To be in the habit of winning and achieving is to be in a very good place and it is not something you want to lose sight of. To be in that place come Sunday evening would put us in joyful mood for the home race in Silverstone in a fortnight's time. Today is an important day for LRGP. Let's do it.
