Alonso leads Ferrari

Lewis Hamilton has said that Fernando Alonso leads Ferrari, as he named the double world champion as one of the three best drivers in Formula One at present.

Hamilton knows Alonso well following their fractious year as team-mates at McLaren in 2007, and said that he was clearly Ferrari's leader. He also named Sebastian Vettel and Nico Rosberg alongside Alonso when asked who the best driver on the grid is, and said that he felt Rosberg was ready to make an impact once given the right car.

"We all believe we are the best and that's what you have to do, unless you like to finish second," Hamilton told El Pais. "[The best] are Alonso, Vettel and Rosberg - who I've known since I was 13. He [Rosberg] is about to burst through and he will at any time. Sebastian is in a great period with Red Bull and has a lot of confidence.

"Fernando is very talented and is fully supported by his team. The whole team supports and follows him. It is he who leads Ferrari. I'm not saying it's good or bad, it's just the route they have chosen."
