Mark Webber brushed off his collision with Timo Glock in first practice for the Singapore Grand Prix as "a small incident".
As teams were attempting to make up for lost time following a delay to the start of FP1, Webber was running behind Glock's Virgin for over a lap. He closed in during the final sector and tried to overtake in to the penultimate corner, only for Glock to turn in and the pair to make contact. Webber was left with a broken front wing while Glock's left rear tyre was punctured, ending his session.
Webber said it was just a case of a misunderstanding on his part, with Glock having not seen him attempt to pass.
"In Free Practice 1, I had a small incident," Webber said. "I thought Glock was letting me through, but he didn't know I was there, so when we got to the apex, our car's touched." Webber finished the day over 0.7s slower than his team-mate Sebastian Vettel, and he admitted he needed to improve on Saturday ahead of qualifying.
"It wasn't too bad. I need to find a bit more pace, but there's a bit of low hanging fruit which we can grab tonight, which will be good for us. Seb's going alright, so I just need to find a bit more and get into it tomorrow."
