Button frustrated by conditions

Jenson Button said that the wet conditions during Friday's two practice sessions for the British Grand Prix were "frustrating".

Button was 15th fastest in the morning session and followed that up with the fifth fastest time in FP2, but both practices were affected by rain. With all of the teams trying to find out the effect of the off-throttle diffuser ban, Button said it was difficult to gauge the car's performance without having any dry running.

"It was a bit of a frustrating session," Button told reporters at Silverstone. "It dried out after P1 and we thought it would be nice and dry for P2 and we'd get some good comparisons and what have you but no not really. We did a bit of running in the wet - it's surprisingly slippery round here in the wet - on the intermediate tyre, I didn't run on the extreme wet.

"But yeah, very, very slippery out there, maybe the reason for that is because of the rule change, I don't know, we'll have to wait and see tomorrow. The balance was OK this morning but this afternoon we struggled a little bit with the balance but it's not going to rain this weekend, it's going to be dry, and we'll see tomorrow where we are with our car."

When asked about a new rear wing that was being tested by McLaren, Button said that the main change was to the DRS system, and with DRS disabled in wet conditions he had no idea as to its potential.

"We haven't really tested it because when it's wet and you're on wet tyres you can't use DRS, so we don't know if it's giving us more than we had with our previous wing or not. It is a different downforce level, that's the only thing, so I'm not sure we're going to be running it tomorrow yet."
