Guten Morgen from the Nürburgring Guten Morgen all, from a wet and wintery Nürburgring. It is cold, damp, blustery and feels more like the end of November than July. But, don't let that dampen your spirits because it's going to be a cracking day on the track, perhaps even a thriller.

At this time in the morning, the Nürburgring is like a ghost town. Few souls walking down the paddock; most folk that work in F1 are still making their way to this almighty circuit. Except for the fans that is. The fans are everywhere; eager beavers soaking up the race morning atmosphere in a shopping parade neighbouring the track. Sipping their beer (a bit early for that, isn't it?), eating their frankfurters, buying their merchandise - it's all part of the pre-German GP deal.

From the dampness of the Nürburgring we will head to another 'ring' next week, this time the Hungaroring in Budapest. In 1986, Hungary and F1 made history by staging the first ever GP behind the iron curtain. It was groundbreaking back then, and to this day it remains a staple part of the Formula One diet each year. The folk there just love their motorsport and we look forward to seeing them next week.

For now, it's all about the Nürburgring and getting our season back on track. No better place than to do it here in Germany. Let's get to it!
