Perez and Bianchi to test for Ferrari

Sauber driver Sergio Perez will take part in a head-to-head test with GP2 driver Jules Bianchi at Ferrari later this year.

Both driver are member s of the Ferrari Driver Academy (FDA) and will drive the F2009 car at either Mugello or Fiorano in September. Head of the FDA Luca Baldisserri said the test would be used to assess the two drivers.

"We will be back on track in September, at Mugello or Fiorano," he told the Ferrari website. "It will be a very interesting test, because we will be putting Jules Bianchi and Sergio Perez up against one another. I think they will both be very motivated and for us it will be the perfect opportunity to assess both drivers."

Baldisserri is hoping Bianchi, who took his first GP2 win of the season at Silverstone on Saturday, will be "working in the Formula One environment" next year.

"Jules has been through a tough time, but his speed as a driver has never been called into question," Baldisserri added. "He made mistakes and in a category like GP2, every error is heavily penalised in terms of the championship. Last weekend, he showed that, when there are no mistakes, he can get excellent results, as could be seen from pole and the win in race 1.

"The aim in the second half of the championship is in fact to work on drastically reducing the number of errors, and the outcome of the Silverstone event is definitely encouraging."
