Kubica stable after third operation

Robert Kubica underwent a third operation on Wednesday, the eight-hour surgery on his right elbow following an nine-hour operation last Friday.

"The operation was a success and it will probably not be necessary for him to undergo further surgery," a spokesman for the Santa Corona Hospital near Genoa said. "The elbow was rebuilt satisfactorily but it is harder to give a prognosis about the recovery of functionality."

Kubica is expected to remain in hospital for another fortnight before he starts his rehabilitation.
