Final test to take place in Barcelona

The final pre-season test has been rescheduled to take place from March 8-11 at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya.

It was scheduled to take place in Bahrain, but ongoing unrest on the island state has resulted in the four-day test being cancelled and the season-opening grand prix being postponed indefinitely.

The teams needed a quick decision on the upcoming test in order to redirect their freight, and after a meeting of the Formula One Teams Association it was decided that the most practical venue would be Barcelona, where the most recent test has just ended.

When asked by Sky Sports if the season starting two weeks later would benefit some teams over others, Red Bull boss Christian Horner said: "They've got a little bit more time, but they haven't got any more mileage because it's still only one four day test before the first grand prix that will now move to Melbourne. Time is a little bit more in hand but in terms of mileage on the track that is exactly the same."
