Peace One Day - Tell us about Peace One Day?
JG: Peace One Day began as a film project - I was concerned about what was going in the world and confused, so I decided that I would make a film about peace and through that research I realised that there was no day of peace. There was nothing that united the world or brought us together as one, and that's when I had my idea. I thought that if that day doesn't exist then I want to correct that by making a film.

Is this something been always close to your heart?
JG: The day and the opportunity the day can create has definitely built up over time. It is little bit like a Formula 1 team – you win a race, you know you are capable of winning and therefore you fight even harder the following week; in many ways that's what Peace One Day is doing.

Was there a certain time when you thought 'you know what, I can really achieve this'?
JG: Yes, the switch flicked when I saw the letter from the Taliban stating that they were going to observe and respect the day. As a consequence of that, everybody got involved. That was the moment when I thought 'wow', what I was told was impossible is not impossible; it's achievable to launch what we are about to do now. We are launching the global truth of 2012 campaign on the 21 September 2012. We created the day of peace, we proved it can work in Afghanistan and now we are trying to do it globally.

So, why Formula 1 and Lotus Renault GP?
JG: Well, funnily enough I have loved Formula 1 my entire life. Literally every single Sunday, Formula 1 was on; for the last 42 years I watched it. Anyway, I am a fan of Formula 1 but what really intrigued me was what goes on when Formula 1 cars are going around the track in terms of messages. These teams survive with relationships from co-operations with brands and companies. So, I've always used the analogy that we are like the peace car! I have incredible relationships with large co-operations and those large co-operations allow our car to race around the track and talk about peace. I approached Lotus Renault GP, Gerard and Eric and they said you can promote it through our car. It's an incredible privilege and honour to have our logo on the R31.

What's happening on the 21 September 2012?
JG: It's really simple, we would like everyone in the world on the 21 September 2012 to do anything for peace - whatever it is to find peace, do it on that day!
