Vettel not willing to accept second best to McLaren

Sebastian Vettel has called on Red Bull to understand why McLaren has been faster at the last two races and get back in front.

Despite leading the championship by 85 points, Vettel has won just one race from the last five, while the McLaren drivers have taken three victories. Although Red Bull has taken pole position in every qualifying session this season, Vettel admitted that the McLarens are now quicker over a race distance.

"If you take the last two races they've been faster than us so we have to see that we get on top of them again," he said.

But Vettel said he was not panicking about playing catch-up.

"I wouldn't say that it makes me worried, but of course we also cannot accept it," he added. "We have to analyse what made them stronger and what cost us a bit of time. We clearly want to get back to where we were at the beginning of the season."

He also praised Jenson Button, who took his second victory ahead of Vettel in mixed conditions this season.

"Well, I think that Jenson was a bit unlucky at the last two races and his win today was well deserved. He has demonstrated that under difficult conditions he's bloody fast, so congratulations on a well-deserved win.

"We should have been a bit faster and then he wouldn't have been able to drive home his victory safely, but in the end P2 was the maximum we've been able to haul out this afternoon."
