Di Resta ready for Eau Rouge challenge

Paul di Resta says he is ready for the challenge of Eau Rouge having never driven at Spa-Francorchamps in a Formula One car.

Di Resta participated in a number of Friday practice sessions for Force India last year, but was not in the car in Belgium as he got less track time towards the end of the season. As a result the last time he raced at Spa was in his debut Formula Three season in 2005, and di Resta told reporters in Belgium that he is unsure quite what to expect at this stage.

"I've only driven it in a Formula Three car," di Resta said. "So I'm sure it will be a bit more of a challenge in Formula One but it's a difficult thing to comment on this early on in the weekend."

When asked if he would have any fear when tackling Eau Rouge for the first time, di Resta admitted the unknown would lead him to tackle the corner with some trepidation.

"I suppose you do. You get all the people up and down the paddock saying 'it's easy flat, it's easy flat, easy flat, it's this and that', but I suppose you judge it when you do it. I've been on the simulator, it gives you as good a feeling as I think you're going to get in anything else before you drive it.

"Having walked it this morning it is a steep hill with a blind corner - it is what everybody talks about. The FIA has taken the decision to disable the DRS through there, so I suppose in that sense it makes it a little more straightforward if it is in doubt, but I'm sure it will be different. If the weather conditions are tricky it makes it even harder again."
