Karun Chandhok will drive for Lotus in first free practice for the Belgian and Italian Grands Prix.
Chandhok has participated in a number of practice sessions this season, although has only achieved minimal running as accidents, weather and mechanical problems have limited his chances. As a result he replaced Jarno Trulli for the German Grand Prix in order to get more time in the car, and he confirmed on the ESPNF1 Podcast that he would be taking part in practice both at Spa and Monza.
Speculation continues that Chandhok will race at the inaugural Indian Grand Prix later this season, and speaking specifically about this weekend he said it was a good opportunity for him to build up further experience with Lotus.
"After the summer break I am looking forward to being back in the car," Chandhok said. "Spa is one of the greatest circuits on the calendar and I love driving here. I have great memories as this is the where I won my first GP2 race back in 2007. The weather here is unpredictable as always but this is still a good chance to gain some more experience with the team and get more comfortable with the car."
