Stewart recovering well after health scare on flight

Triple world champion Sir Jackie Stewart is expected to make a full recovery after complaining of chest pains on a flight to Heathrow from Geneva on Wednesday.

He reportedly received onboard first aid treatment from a British Airways stewardess after passing out, but was said to be conscious when he was met by paramedics on arrival at the airport at 12.45pm.

"I can confirm Sir Jackie is in Hillingdon Hospital, Uxbridge after a physical set back on flight back from Geneva to London Heathrow early this afternoon," Stewart's spokesperson said in a statement. "He is fully conscious and having precautionary medical checks but we are expecting a full recovery."

His son, Paul Stewart, told BBC Sport: "I've just spoken to him. He seemed absolutely fine. He did pass out and as a precaution was taken to hospital. Obviously we need to establish what happened. Hopefully he'll be checked over and it will be nothing more sinister."

Stewart was returning home from the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland.
