Russian GP on schedule for 2014

Organisers of the Russian Grand Prix at Sochi are confident everything is on course to host the race in 2014 as planned.

Earlier this year it emerged that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has the power to delay the F1 race if it affects preparations for the resort city's Winter Games the same year. Dmitry Chernyshenko, president of the Sochi organising committee, told Reuters that the IOC will review the plans next month.

"It's well on track," he said when asked about F1. "It was decided that the IOC will review the final feasibility study at the forthcoming executive project review in May and they will see the real construction design document to realise the overlapping with the Olympic infrastructure."

Chernyshenko is confident the two projects will run in harmony.

"There are pure endorsement and mutual benefits for both Olympic Games and Formula One project. It (F1) will not impact on the timeframe of the preparation for the Games."
