FIA confirms DRS zone at Sepang

The FIA has confirmed that drivers within a second of the car in front during Sunday's Malaysian Grand Prix will be able to activate their Drag Reduction System (DRS) for the entire length of the pit straight.

The DRS detection zone, where the gap between drivers is measured, is on the preceding straight 200 metres before the final corner. The longer activation zone - compared to the first race in Australia - is expected to boost the chances of position changes into the first corner.

"I think with the DRS system it is going to make overtaking a lot easier than it was in Melbourne," Jenson Button said. "Maybe it will be a little too easy, as I think being within a second before the last corner, even without DRS, you can have a good chance of overtaking."

Mark Webber is also expecting more action and thinks Malaysia will be one of the best circuits on the calendar for the system.

"If it doesn't work here, I don't know where it will work," he added. "You've got a slow corner to open the lap, a slow corner at the end of the pit straight, and then Heathrow airport as well in terms of width, so it should work."

The only issue might be the predicted rain on Sunday, which will rule out the use of system.
