Maldonado to hit the streets of Caracas in an F1 car

Pastor Maldonado will be given an opportunity to show off his skills in a Formula One car in front of his home fans when Williams performs a demonstration on the streets of Caracas in Venezuela.

On Friday January 14, Maldonado will put the Williams FW32 through its paces around the Los Proceres national monument in front of a crowd of fans and President Hugo Chavez.

"I'm so happy the team are coming to Venezuela," said Maldonado, who is receiving an estimated $15 million in backing from the state-owned oil company PDVSA this year. "To be given the opportunity of driving a Formula One car in front of my fellow countrymen is going to be something very special. We will definitely put on a good show for everyone who attends. Now that I am a confirmed race driver for ATT Williams, this feels like giving something back to the people who have supported my career and put their faith in me over the years."

Team Principal Frank Williams said: "Away from the race track, we have demonstrated our cars in many prestigious locations around the world. It is always a pleasure to do so, and a privilege to share with the public the sheer power of a Formula One car. We are therefore delighted that Pastor has invited us to Venezuela, and for him to be driving our car in his home country."
